That was so good! How did it feel to finally do it? You seem so relaxed! I hope people are inspired by your talk, I certainly am. Excellent stuff dude.
Cheers mate. I dunno if you've seen the Ted talk by Tim Urban, talking about procrastination, (it's my favourite one ever). He quips at the beginning: "It has always been a dream of mine, to have done a Ted talk, IN THE PAST!"
It feels exactly like that. I put off preparing for it until the last minute, then spent a couple of days just listening to a recording of it over and over while out running. Then I practiced it a few times the night before and kept messing it up.
Then the moment came and somehow it just all came naturally. I did spend some time before it just sitting in an empty room reminding myself that life is absurd, and that none of the people watching it could give two fucks about how well it goes or doesn't go, and that everyone's just trapped in their own heads and worrying about their own problems. Then I saw that a few of my own students had shown up in the audience, and it reminded me that I stand in front of an audience every day talking shit, so why should I be worried about this one, it was just a bigger audience and bigger auditorium, but basically it was no different to what I do every day. (Then I had a couple of swigs of a little something to moisten my lips and warm my insides) and I walked on stage and it all just passed by in a flash.
I spent so many months panicking and having anxiety, nightmares about it and all the bad things, and then the day came and everything was fine. Ain't that just the way it goes.
Holy Mole!
Aw, I love it! You're a natural! Well done.
Thanks! I surprised myself! And the holy moley was beautiful, hadn't heard it since school! 😆
